Dishsage terms of service
Updated on
Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms are the agreement between you and us, the people who make Dishsage. They cover the Dishsage app and the service behind it. By installing or using Dishsage you agree to them.
When we change these terms, the date at the top changes with them, and we tell you in the app when a change matters to you.
What Dishsage is, and is not
Dishsage reads a photograph of a restaurant menu and names one dish to order with protein in mind, with the words to say to your server and two alternatives.
Every result is an estimate read from what the menu prints. Menus change, kitchens vary, and a printed description cannot say how a dish was made, so a result is a starting point for your own judgment, not a promise about the food.
This app is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Consult a healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Menus may omit ingredients. Confirm allergies with the restaurant.
Who may use it
Dishsage is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it.
It is for your own personal, non-commercial use: reading menus for yourself, not for a business, a service or a product of your own.
No account
There is no account. The first time this app runs it asks the service for an anonymous install id, keeps that id on your phone and files every server record under it.
What is kept under that id, for how long, and how to delete it is set out in the privacy policy and on the page for deleting your data.
Subscription and billing
Your first scan is free. After it, Dishsage is a weekly subscription at $4.99 a week. There is no free trial.
The subscription is sold and billed by the app store you installed Dishsage from — Google Play or the App Store — under that store's own terms. It renews automatically every week until you cancel.
You cancel in the subscription settings of that store, at any time before the current week ends. You keep access until the end of the week you have paid for.
The store shows the price and any tax before you buy, and the store handles refunds under its own policy, so a refund request goes to the store. If the price changes, the store tells you before you are charged the new one.
Your photos and what you enter
When you scan a menu, you give us permission to process your photos of it and the profile you entered for that one request, so that Dishsage can answer it.
Google Gemini reads them for that request, as the AI provider that produces the answer. We use your photos for nothing else.
This app keeps a record of each scan — your profile at that moment, the result and timing — on its own servers for 90 days to run and improve the service. Menu photos are not kept.
Acceptable use
Use Dishsage the way a diner uses it. Do not work around the scan limits or the paywall, do not send requests to our service by any means other than the app, do not copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the app or the service, and do not use the results to build or feed another product.
We may suspend or block an install that does any of this.
Our content
The Dishsage name, the mark, the app and every sentence in it are ours. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to install and use the app for as long as these terms allow, and nothing else in it passes to you.
The dishes, prices and descriptions on a menu belong to the restaurant that printed it.
Availability and changes
We may change Dishsage, add to it or stop parts of it, and the service behind it may be unavailable at times. We do not promise that it will always be available or that every result is right.
We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes and we tell you in the app before the new terms apply. If you keep using Dishsage after that, the new terms apply to you.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Dishsage is provided “as is”, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the extent the law allows.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of these terms or your use of Dishsage is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription period in which the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not let us limit.
